Conch and Creole Jazz?

Playing Jazz with a conch is the new trend in Guadeloupe! Conch is usually used as a musical instrument during Carnival or Lewoz. It was also used in the past during meetings or funerals.

However, for the past few years, conch conquered other musical styles. Franck Nicolas, Guadeloupean trumpet player, converted this iconic instrument, and it is actually  in New York that he created « Jazz Ka » (mix between Ka and Jazz Coltrane). He defends the colors of jazz and those of the Caribbean music in the same time.
Always equipped with his conch and his trumpet, Frank Nicolas gives a second breath to Creole music!
